BLACK FRIDAY!

I have an interior decorating business and I understand BLACK FRIDAY! I'm not open as I work from home and I am staying home unless I am desperate. No way am I standing in line for anything today. My sister wants me to go to Joann's with her and I'll venture out even though I know that the line will stretch to the back of the store. Maybe mid morning or afternoon it won't be too bad. I do need to get about 2 yds of fabric for Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt! I have three color options and I"ve been waiting to see the size of her HST to choose which way to go. One of them is thrown out as some of the fabric patterns are too large to cut into 2.5 squares. Now I'm down to two options, hers or mind. I have this pretty lime green and turquoise and white fabric with chairs on it. The chairs have pillows in stripe and polka dots and little grey birds sitting on and by the chairs. I think this would be a beautiful quilt and since I am a decorator and I sell chairs I love the fabric. However, I"m having difficulty assigning all the colors to her clues. The other option is completely scrappy like she suggests and I have lots of stash scraps I can use. I would substitute purple for the pink. After seeing her clues today, I'm leaning toward that option. I will look at them both later on and make that long awaited decision! I made her Smith Mountain Morning quilt in reds and greens at a retreat this year! So loved making that quilt!
This is me at the retreat with my blocks on the Wall! What fun I had! My purpose for posting this blog today is to learn how to post a blog with pictures and to add the gadget on the side bar! Practice makes perfect and I might even be getting the hang of it. Carol

Love it here! Adding a photo of the Row along quilt I made with Lori Holt. It was sew much fun and wonderful for her to share! Check out her blog Carol

WE SUPPORT YOU!

I've been wanting to become a regular blogger and I just get busy with Decorating and my clients and I don't get to it as often as I would like. I'm going to make a concerted effort to start writing interesting things and posting interesting pictures. I think I stumbled into hosting a blog round up of sorts called We Support You! It has to do with supporting breast cancer. This past year, I made a quilt to donate to my church, Holy Trinity Lutheran, to raise funds for Breast Cancer. I think it earned quite a bit and the person who won it just lost his wife to cancer, just a few days prior to the drawing. I hope he finds comfort in it.
This quilt was so much fun to make! And so I thought I would start early to make another for next year. Hopefully, I will get the hang of taking pics and posting them! Carol

In Transit

Okay, okay, I don,t have any pictures but I am determined to become an accomplished blogger. I am still on vacation in Tennessee but this coming weekend, I am jumping into blogging and participating in a block swap. Mi'll be catching up on my sewing after two weeks of vacation! Today this is a practice blog. My husband and ! Went to Maine for a family get together after the death of his 99.5 yr old aunt. He graciously allowed me to stop by 3 lovely quilt shops. One shop had 10 or more blueberry themed fabrics and I bought fat quarters of each to make luggage tags for my guild board. The Maine blueberry is the state,s fruit and grows on low shrubs, is very small and quite tasty. Then over labor day, we had a planned trip to Tennessee with family. They left yesterday and today, we are visiting the Smoky mt national park. Home tomorrow and will see our doggies. Back to work but I will start planning my retirement in the next two yrs and amping up a quilting. Usiness. I hope to be able to make a bit of money on quilting instead of giving everything away. Until later, carol
